Luísa Taveira
LUÍSA TAVEIRA is a founder member of CNB (National Ballet of Portugal), member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Centro Cultural de Belém and former dancer and dance teacher. She danced as a principle dancer at CNB and as a guest principle dancer with several international companies.
Taveirna taught at the National Conservatory and became one of the Directors. She was repeatedly called to be part of the board of juries for funding the Arts of the Ministry of Culture, dance and interdisciplinary projects and state carrier prizes such as Almada and Ribeiro da Fonte. She was Artistic Director of both CNB and Teatro Camões and was appointed in November 2016 by the Minister of Culture for the Board of Directors of the Foundation Centro Cultural de Belém. Taveirna has a Master’s Degree in ‘Cultural Practices for Cities’ from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and won the Portuguese press award for best ballet dancer in 1982.
