Laura Cappelle

Laura Cappelle is a dance writer and researcher. She has been the Paris-based dance and theatre critic for the Financial Times since 2010, and regularly contributes to Pointe, Dance Magazine and Dance Europe. Her other publications include programme notes for the Festival d’Automne in Paris and companies including the Paris Opera Ballet and the Bolshoi Ballet. Since 2015, she has presented regular pre-performance talks for Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Recently, she was the dance consultant for the BBC docudrama Rudolf Nureyev: Dance to Freedom, directed by Richard Curson Smith.

Laura Cappelle is also a Ph.D candidate in Sociology at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3 in France, where she researches the creation process in ballet companies internationally. She has taught sociology, dance history and other courses at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3 and the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
