Assis Carreiro

ASSIS CARREIRO is a senior cultural leader with vast international experience in dance and the broader arts sectors in artistic direction, leadership development, mentoring, producing, programming, management, fund raising, commissioning, cultural diplomacy, branding and profile raising. Carreiro is the founding Director of BooksEast, a new literature festival in the UK launched in 2016, currently interim Director of Culture for the Quebec Government Office in London and a member of the Board of National Dance Company Wales and Rambert School. She has held senior positions as Artistic Director of Royal Ballet Flanders, Artistic Director & Chief Executive of DanceEast. She has also been programmer for Das TAT for William Forsythe and founding director of Birmingham’s DanceXchange. In 2014 Carreiro was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours for her services to dance.
