Gold for TD and Dutch National Opera & Ballet at the International Design Awards
An exceptional recognition for TD and Dutch National Opera & Ballet: the season’s brochure has been awarded gold in the Print / Catalogs category at the International Design Awards. This prestigious accolade reaffirms the power of design as a medium to translate creative expression and cultural value into an immersive visual experience.
The season’s brochure is the flagship of Dutch National Opera & Ballet’s communications. The concept, developed by TD, highlights Dutch National Opera & Ballet’s core promise: “Part of something greater than yourself.” Through a layered typographic design and a carefully curated use of brand identity and color, the result is a dynamic and timeless design that reflects the transcendent power of opera and ballet.
Creative collaboration and impact
The award-winning project is the result of a close collaboration between Dutch National Opera & Ballet and the creative team at Total Design. Led by lead designers Edwin van Praet and Adam Lane, the team—including Henriette Verkerk, Trudelies van der Poel, Martijn van den Brakel, Sjanet Benschop, Arjen Firet, and Floris Holander—crafted a design that impressively captures the essence of the institution on paper. From Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Lenny Gerdes (lead of the creative team at DNO&B and coordinator of the season’s brochure) and Marijn Maas (coordinator of the new brand identity) played a crucial role in bringing the project to life.
“This award is a wonderful recognition of how we use design to strengthen brand narratives,” says Edwin van Praet, Executive Creative Director at TD. “With this brochure, we have not only created an informative programme but also a visual experience that truly honours the magic of Dutch National Opera & Ballet.”
