John Holiday

American countertenor John Holiday studied at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School. While finishing his studies, he made his debut at Portland Opera and Cincinnati Opera, in Galileo Galilei by Philip Glass. Soon after finishing his studies he made his debut at Los Angeles Opera. He then sang in opera houses in the US and Europe, among which The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Philadelphia Opera and Bayerische Staatsoper. Apart from classical music he also likes to engage with pop and jazz music, most notably when competing in the US television programme The Voice. At Dutch National Opera he previously performed the role of John Blue in We Shall Not Be Moved (2018).
