About Nieuw Amsterdams Kinderkoor

The Nieuw Amsterdams Kinderkoor, part of Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam (NVA), was founded in 2005 by Caro Kindt and is a classical vocal training program specializing in opera and musical theater. The chorus is open to all children and young people aged 4 to 21. Additionally, in collaboration with Leerorkest Amsterdam, NVA provides annual lessons to 1,500 children in schools across Amsterdam.

Since 2016, NVA has been the official children's chorus partner of Dutch National Opera & Ballet. In 2025, the Nieuw Amsterdams Kinderkoor will perform in the operas Die Frau ohne Schatten, Boris Godunov, Tosca, and the ballet The Nutcracker & the Mouse King.

Dutch National Opera and Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam collaborate on performances and the training of children and young people for a career in opera. Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam has a well-structured educational system that enables children to reach a high level of singing and acting in a short time. The twenty choirs of Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam frequently perform both nationally and internationally and have won various prizes at international competitions. In May 2024, the Nieuw Amsterdams Kinderkoor won a First Prize Summa cum Laude at the European Music Festival for Youth in Neerpelt, Belgium.

There is always room for young opera talent at Nieuw Amsterdams Kinderkoor. Would you like to sing in a future production of Dutch National Opera & Ballet?
