Opera Forward Festival nominated for Best Festival 2025
Dutch National Opera’s annual Opera Forward Festival (OFF) has been nominated for Best Festival 2025 at the International Opera Awards. Since its launch in 2016, OFF has offered a platform to the opera makers of today, opening up new perspectives on the art form. The tenth edition of the festival will take place from 6 to 15 March 2026, featuring, among other highlights, the world premiere of Theory of Flames by Michel van der Aa and the staged world premiere of Requiem for Mariza by Meriç Artaç.
The opera We Are The Lucky Ones also received a nomination, in the category Best World Premiere 2025. This production by Philip Venables, Ted Huffman and Nina Segal received its world premiere last March as part of OFF 2025.
The International Opera Awards 2025 will be presented on 13 November in the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Greek National Opera in Athens. The festive ceremony, featuring live performances by international opera singers, will be streamed online free of charge via OperaVision.
International Opera Awards
The International Opera Awards, founded in 2012 by philanthropist Harry Hyman, honour exceptional opera talent from around the world and support young, emerging artists through the Opera Awards Foundation. The prizes decided by an international jury chaired by John Allison, editor of Opera Magazine and Opera News. In addition, the Readers’ Award is presented each year, with the winner chosen by the public.
