Janine Scheepers

Janine Scheepers

Alongside studying biology, Janine de Reus-Scheepers studied singing with Stephen Sweetland, Dixie Neill and Thea van der Putten. She also followed master classes with Renata Scotto. Since ensemble singing was her great passion from an early age, she sang in the Chorus of the Concertgebouw Orchestra starting in 1980, as a freelancer in the chorus of the Nederlandse Reisopera from 1985 and in the Chorus of Dutch National Opera.

By now, Janine has held a permanent position as a chorus vocalist with DNO for almost thirty years. In addition, obtaining the third prize in the Cristina Deutekom Competition in Enschede in 1992 signalled the start of her solo career. She sang solo roles, including Marguerite Faust and Mimì La bohème, with companies such as the Dutch Reisopera and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. She also performed with the Radio Symphony Orchestra in the ZaterdagMatinee.

Janine also performed as a soloist in many oratorios on other concert stages in the Netherlands and abroad. With DNO, Janine has presented herself a number of times at Lunch concerts and she still regularly sings small solo parts.

In addition to her work as a chorus vocalist, she has also enthusiastically participated in various committees of the Chorus over the past thirty years.

Janine de Reus-Scheepers was part of the Chorus of Dutch National Opera until December 2023.
