Erik Nielsen

Erik Nielsen studied conducting at The Curtis Institute of Music and received his bachelor's degree in both oboe and harp at The Julliard School New York. In 2002 he joined the Oper Frankfurt for ten years. Here he began his career as a repetiteur and later became Kapellmeister. Since 2015, he has been principal conductor of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. He has conducted a composition by Manfred Trojahn before. He had already conducted his Orest at Opernhaus Zürich. Season 20/21 he stood for the first time on the baton at Dutch National Opera for Weill's Die sieben Todsünden, March 2022 he returned for Eurydice - Die Liebenden, blind.
