Olga Khoziainova

First pianist

The Russian pianist Olga Khoziainova was born in Yalta, where she started piano lessons at the age of six. At the age of ten, she continued her studies at the Special Music School for young talent in Kiev. When she was nineteen, she went to study in Moscow, first with Professor Maria Grinberg and then with Arcadi Sevidov. On graduating in 1982, Olga Khoziainova joined the National Theatre in Moscow as a pianist. At the same time, she worked as a soloist and concertmaster with the Moscow Union of Music Ensembles.

In 1993, Khoziainova joined Finnish National Ballet and subsequently also worked as a guest pianist with American Ballet Theatre in New York and with Hamburg Ballett. In 1998, she was invited to join Dutch National Ballet as first pianist and has been living and working in Amsterdam ever since.

Khoziainova is one of the most sought-after performing pianists in the ballet world today. Besides her work with various ballet companies, she also performs regularly as a concert pianist. She has been on tours to Moscow, St Petersburg, Shanghai, Beijing, London, Paris and other European cities, and performed at festivals in Edinburgh and Houston.
