Aleksi Barrière is a French-Finnish writer, director and translator. He and conductor Clément Mao-Takacs founded the music theatre group La Chambre aux échos, an interdisciplinary collective that explores new narratives within innovative musical and visual forms. Their creations have been performed across Europe, in the US and in Japan. Barrière also works within other artistic constellations and has been a guest director at the Grimeborn Festival in London, the Staatsoper Hamburg, and the Autunnale in Bergen, among others. As a librettist passionate about interdisciplinarity, interculturality and multilingualism within text, Barrière collaborated regularly with Kaija Saariaho.

Aleksi Barrière makes his DNO debut with Innocence, to be seen at Dutch National Opera from 7 to 22 October 2023.
