Spanish tenor Ismael Jordi was born in Jerez de la Frontera and studied at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Rofía with Alfredo Kraus.
He made his debut at the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez, singing Ernesto in Don Pasquale. He has since sung for opera companies all around Europe, including Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Real Madrid, Grand Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, the Opéra-Comique, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Opéra national de Paris. His repertory includes Tebaldo I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Gennaro Lucrezia Borgia, Edgardo, Riccardo Percy Anna Bolena, Roberto Roberto Devereux, Carlo Linda di Chamounix, Nemorino L’elisir d’amore, Il Duca di Mantova Rigoletto, Alfredo Germont La traviata, Roméo Roméo et Juliette, the title role in Faust, Wilhelm Meister Mignon and Des Grieux Manon.
Ismael Jordi appears regularly in recital and in concert. His recordings include Martha with the Wiener Volksoper, La traviata with the Teatro Villamarta, Jerez, and Le Duc d’Albe with Opera Vlaanderen.
Ismael Jordi made his debut with Dutch National Opera in 2007 as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor. With DNO, he has also performed Alfredo in La Traviata (2008-2009 and 2012-2013), Roméo in Roméo et Juliette (2010-2011), Ein Sänger in Der Rosenkavalier (2010-2011) and (in 2013-2014) Edgardo.
