Adrian Sâmpetrean

Bass-baritone

The Romanian bass-baritone Adrian Sâmpetrean began his career at the Opera Studio of the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, after which he quickly celebrated international successes. He has appeared at Chicago Lyric Opera, Opéra de Monte Carlo, Opéra National de Paris and Teatro alla Scala, among others. His repertoire includes the roles of Escamillo in Carmen, Il Dottore Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore, Sir Giorgio in I puritani and the title role in Verdi's Oberto conte di San Bonifacio. At Dutch National Opera, he sang the role of Leporello in Mozart's Don Giovanni in 2016. In this role, he returned to Dutch National Opera in 2022 as also for the role of Enrico VIII in Anna Bolena.
