Wojtek Okraska

At primary and secondary school the Polish bass Wojtek Okraska studied piano and trumpet. He continued his education at the music academy in Lodz, where he obtained a master's degree in pedagogy. Later, in 1987, he also obtained a master's degree in classical singing from Tatiana Mazurkiewicz.

Already during his studies Wojtek started performing. After this he became a member of the permanent ensemble of soloists at the Staatsopera in Wroclaw (Breslau). From 1990 he continued his career with the Chorus of Dutch National Opera. Wojtek also performs regularly as a soloist on various stages throughout the Netherlands. Wojtek Okraska bid farewell to the Chorus of Dutch National Opera in 2023.

Wojtek Okraska (1959-2024)

It is with sadness that we share the news of the sudden death of Wojtek Okraska. Since 1990 he was a valued and beloved member of our choir. Only a year ago he took early retirement. He passed away in Poland on Tuesday 23 July 2024.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his wife, friends and family.
