
William Kelley
William Kelley works as a conductor, pianist, and vocal coach across both Europe and the United States. Recently, he has conducted productions of Così fan tutte and Carmen at Staatsoper Hamburg, Le Nozze di Figaro at The Juilliard School, Salome, Doctor Atomic, Orpheus in der Unterwelt, Macbeth, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Angels in America, Hello, Dolly!, Jenůfa, and The Cunning Little Vixen at Theater Bremen, where he held the position of 1. Kapellmeister until 2024. He has appeared as guest conductor with the Prague Radio Orchestra and the 21st Century Orchestra with the Lucerne Festival.
Previously, Kelley was Kapellmeister and Repetiteur at Luzerner Theater, where he made his European conducting debut in 2017 with Die Zauberflöte, followed by productions of Don Giovanni and María de Buenos Aires. As a pianist, he has performed at Alice Tully Hall, the Caramoor Festival, the Janáček Festival, Opera Rara, amongst others; he has collaborated with institutions such as The Lindemann Young Artists Program at The Metropolitan Opera, and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, and given world-premieres of works by Iain Bell and Klaus von Heydenaber. Kelley studied at The Juilliard School in New York City and The University of North Carolina Greensboro.
Since March 2025, William has been Head Coach at the Dutch National Opera Studio.
