Scenographer Vera Selhorst studied Theatre Design at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. After graduating, she created various projects for organisations including the Noord Nederlands Toneel, Club Guy & Roni, Staatsoper Hamburg, Theater Sonnevanck, Club Gewalt, Oorkaan and the Van Gogh Museum. Besides her trusted collaboration partner Mart van Berckel, she has also worked with directors such as Rebekka Nilsson, Daniel van Klaveren, Kenza Koutchoukali, Flora Verbrugge, Pepijn Kladder and Annechien Koerselman.
Her work is characterised by unconventional translations of text, sound and concepts into images that are grand in their effect. Her most recent production with her regular collaboration partners Mart van Berckel and Rosa Schützendorf was My First Tragedy: Iphigeneia at NITE. Ändere die Welt! is Selhorst’s first design assignment for Dutch National Opera.
