Valentin Uryupin
Conductor and clarinettist Valentin Uryupin won the prestigious Sir Georg Solti Conductors’ Competition in Frankfurt in 2017. Since then, he has conducted orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and Philzuid.
As an opera conductor, he has led productions at venues including Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Bregenz Festival, and Teatro Real in Madrid. From 2015 to 2021, he served as chief conductor of the Rostov Symphony Orchestra, where he initiated educational projects and founded an international festival. In 2021–22, he held the same position at the Novaya Opera in Moscow, where he conducted the Russian premieres of Korngold’s Die tote Stadt and Saariaho’s La passion de Simone.
With The Maid of Orleans, he makes his debut with Dutch National Opera.
