Thomas Wilhelm

Choreographer

Thomas Wilhelm trained as a dancer at the Palucca School in Dresden. He subsequently worked at the Saxon State Opera, the Gothenburg Opera and Stephan Thoss’s company. He has been a freelance choreographer since 2006, during which time he worked with Christof Loy on opera productions in Barcelona, Gothenburg, Stockholm and elsewhere. Their last work together, Britten’s Peter Grimes (Theater an der Wien), was named best new production at the 2015 International Opera Awards. Some of Wilhelm’s most recent productions are Salome (Bari), Arabella (Madrid), Lucrezia Borgia (Bayerische Staatsoper) and Giulio Cesare in Egitto (Montpellier). At Dutch National Opera, he worked on Les Vepres siciliennes (2010), Arabella (2013), Khovanshchina (2015), and Springtime in Amsterdam (2020).
