Tatyana van Walsum
Tatyana van Walsum works as a costume and set designer for ballet, opera, theatre, and film. In addition, she designs exhibitions for institutions such as the Amsterdam Historical Museum, the Rembrandt House, and Paleis Het Loo. Van Walsum frequently collaborates with choreographers including Krzysztof Pastor, Dominique Dumais, Kevin O’Day, Juanjo Arqués, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Martino Müller, Peter Schaufuss, and Cathy Marston. These collaborations have taken her to ballet companies around the world, including Dutch National Ballet, the Polish National Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Toronto International Ballet Theatre, The Australian Ballet, Scottish Ballet, the Royal Swedish Ballet, and the Joffrey Ballet in the United States. At Dutch National Ballet, she recently designed for Wubkje Kuindersma’s Anatomy of Light (2022) and Juanjo Arqués’ Full Frontal (2023).
Van Walsum has received several awards, including the Prix Benois de la Danse for Best Scenography (for Martino Müller’s Le jour même, created for the ballet company of the Opéra National de Lyon) and an Australian Green Room Award for Best Ballet Design (for Krzysztof Pastor’s Symphonie fantastique, created for The Australian Ballet).
