Sytske van der Ster graduated from the Kleinkunstacademie in Amsterdam in 2001. She is known for her leading roles in the successful television series Buza, Heer en meester, Levenslied and De co-assistent. She played the female lead in the children’s opera Mannetje Jas and starred in the musical Minoes, based on Annie M.G. Schmidt’s book of the same name. Besides her acting work, Sytske also works as a theatre director. Together with Jolanda van den Berg, she developed the musical theatre performance Who’s Afraid of Woody Allen for M-lab, and together they made the performance Nico in 2016. In 2018, she developed and directed the music theatre performance Hold On, in which three women approach the work of Tom Waits from their own perspective. She also directed Marian Mudder’s performance SofaSessions and Britt Scheltens’ cabaret debut Uitvlucht, among others.
