Vitalij Kowaljow

Vitalij Kowaljow is regarded as one of the leading bass singers of his generation, and is renowned for his powerful timbre and emotionally charged performances. His career spans more than twenty years and nearly fifty opera roles at prestigious venues such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera in London, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Kowaljow is a specialist in Verdi’s bass roles, including Zaccaria in Nabucco, Filippo II in Don Carlo, Ramfis in Aida, Banco in Macbeth, Don Ruy Gomez de Silva in Ernani and Jacopo Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra. At Dutch National Opera, he previously sang Banco in Macbeth (2015) and Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino (2017).
