
Rita Fernandez
The Spanish mezzo-soprano Rita Fernandez studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where she sang the role of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, directed by Floris Visser, and Dorabella in Così fan tutte, directed by Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg. Her career started with the role of San Francisco in Zipolli's San Ignacio, with Gabriel Garrido as the conductor. Last season, she made her role debut as Dido. Rita regularly performs the Spanish repertoire. She collaborates with the pianist Rosa Torres-Pardo, with whom she recently gave her first performance in the main concert hall of the National Music Auditorium in Madrid. She has also presented a TEDx talk on opera.

Rita Fernandez performs the role of the Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas in concert, on stage from 25 April to 6 May 2025 at Dutch National Opera & Ballet and in Arnhem, Enschede and Heerlen.
