Mezzo-soprano

The American mezzo-soprano Rehanna Thelwell graduated from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Nadine and Daniel Washington. In 2019, Thelwell joined the Cafritz Young Artist program of Washington National Opera. While there, she premiered Carlos Simon’s Night Trip for WNO’s American Opera Initiative, performed The Consul for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and made her Kennedy Center debut as Third lady in Die Zauberflöte. In her most recent performances, she joined The Washington National Opera for her final year as a Cafritz Young Artist and performed in Francesca Zambello’s Carmen. Her performance in Blue at Dutch National Opera is Thelwell’s international debut.
