Nikolai Schukoff studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. The title role in Parsifal, which he took over from famous tenor Plácido Domingo at the Bayerische Staatsopera in 2007, brought him his international breakthrough. He subsequently sang this role at several important opera houses. Other milestones included roles in Die Walküre under the baton of Zubin Mehta in Valencia and in Carmen at The Metropolitan Opera in New York. Besides his performance at Dutch National Opera in the 2023-2024 season, Schukoff is also engaged in Bergen for concert performances of Elektra. He will also sing the role of Florestan in Beethoven’s Fidelio in Lissabon and the role of Walter in Weinberg’s Die Passagierin in Madrid. At Dutch National Opera, he previously sang the title role in Lohengrin (2014) and Guido Bardi in Eine florentinische Tragödie (2017).
Nikolai Schukoff sings the role of Jim Mahoney in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, which will be performed at Dutch National Opera from 6 September to 27 September 2023.
