Nicholas Brownlee

Bass-baritone

The American bass-baritone Nicholas Brownlee started his career as a member of the Los Angeles Opera's Young Artist Program, where he sang roles in La bohème, Die Zauberflöte, Salome and Les contes d'Hoffmann. He then sang in opera houses in the US such as the Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera and Dallas Opera, and he has sung in European houses such as Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Opernhaus Zürich, Oper Frankfurt, Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Wiener Staatsoper and the Bayerische Staatsoper. He collaborated with directors such as Christof Loy, Barrie Kosky and Calixto Bieito. He sang concert programs with, among others, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with Kent Nagano, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra with Gustavo Dudamel.
