Michaela Schuster

The German mezzo-soprano Michaela Schuster is currently one of the most sought-after mezzo-sopranos in opera. Her repertoire includes major roles such as Fricka in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre, Madame de Croissy in Dialogues des Carmélites, Herodias in Salome and La zia Principessa and Zita in Il Trittico. She has recently performed at opera houses such as the Berlin State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, Opernhaus Zürich, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, The Royal Opera, Teatro Real in Madrid and San Francisco Opera. At Dutch National Opera she previously sang the roles of Waltraute in Götterdämmerung (2005 and 2013), Klytämnestra in Elektra (2011), and Ortrud in Lohengrin (2014).

In 2025, Michaela Schuster returns to Dutch National Opera for the role of Die Amme in Die Frau ohne Schatten.
