Michael Gniffke

Tenor

German character tenor Michael Gniffke trained as a classical singer in Zürich with his father, opera singer Rudolf A. Hartmann, and Alfred Muff and Robert Schunk. He has performed with many opera companies, for instance in Magdeburg and Kassel (Elektra), in Lübeck (Hänsel und Gretel) and in Dijon, where he sang Der Hauptmann (Wozzeck) in a highly regarded production. He also sang the role of Alwa in Lulu in Ulm, and was involved in the creation of Alexander Raskatov’s opera GerMANIA. In addition, he has worked closely for many years with the conductor and lied accompanist Caspar Dechmann.
