Lucas van Lierop
The Dutch-Canadian tenor Lucas van Lierop was a member of Dutch National Opera Studio in Amsterdam from 2018 to 2020. In the 2024–25 season, Van Lierop made significant debuts at the Salzburg Festival as Diener in Capriccio, with Christian Thielemann conducting, and at Theater Basel as Pong in Christof Loy’s new production of Turandot. He also returned to Dutch National Opera to sing Bob Boles in Barbora Horáková’s new staging of Peter Grimes, with Lorenzo Viotti as the conductor. He had already been a regular guest performer at Dutch National Opera, singing roles including Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), Spoletta (Tosca), Don Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro), Joe Cannon (Girls of the Golden West), Ein Wirt (Der Rosenkavalier), Der Schneider (Königskinder) and Man Ray in Ritratto by composer Willem Jeths.
