Leigh Melrose
Baritone
The British baritone Leigh Melrose is renowned for his interpretations of contemporary operatic roles and is seen as a specialist in the twentieth-century operatic repertoire. He has sung at such opera houses as Teatro Real Madrid, Vienna State Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Staatsoper Hamburg, Zurich Opera House and Komische Oper Berlin. In addition to the role of Kajin in Die ersten Menschen, he has previously performed at Dutch National Opera in the roles of Athanasius Kirchner in Louis Andriessen’s Theatre of the World (2016), Clov in György Kurtág’s Fin de Partie (2019) and Captain Balstrode in Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes (2024).
