Lauren Michelle
Los Angeles born soprano Lauren Michelle studied at the University of California before continuing her studies at The Juilliard School in New York. After making her debut with Washington National Opera, she performed at many international opera houses and festivals. She is known for her rich timbre, musical versatility and compelling artistry. Roles include Musetta in La bohème in Israel, Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream in Canada, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte in Italy. Last season, she made her debut in the roles of Nedda in Pagliacci and Mimi in La bohème. Michelle received awards in more than 15 competitions, including first prize in the Lotte Lenya Competition and the Marcello Giordani International Vocal Competition. She was also a winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. In season 2023/2024, she will make several role debuts, including Violetta in Verdi's La traviata and Contessa in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. In the role of Jenny Hill, she makes her house debut at DNO.
