Karl Laquit

Tenor

The contemporary tenor and sometimes (sopranist) countertenor Karl Laquit is endowed with a massive range and is dedicated to virtuosity. During his studies, he began to work with Jean-Philippe Dubor. The works he sang with his ensemble included Orff’s Carmina Burana, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and both Puccini’s and Rossini’s Messa di Gloria. He is also familiar with the work of composer Alexander Raskatov: he sang in Raskatov’s opera GerMANIA at Opéra de Lyon, after which critics described his voice as having an “inhuman range” and “stratospheric treble”.
