
Josef Wagner
The Austrian baritone Josef Wagner studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. Since his debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2006, he has been a frequent guest at many internationally renowned opera houses, such as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opernhaus Zürich, Volksoper Wien, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Finnish National Opera and Staatsoper Stuttgart. His repertoire includes title roles in Der fliegende Holländer and Eugene Onegin. In addition to his work in opera, he is a much sought-after concert singer, with a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music. He previously performed the role of Der Spielmann in Königskinder (2022) at Dutch National Opera.
Josef Wagner will return to Dutch National Opera for the role of Barak der Färber in Die Frau ohne Schatten in April 2025.
