George Petean
Romanian baritone George Petean had his international breakthrough in 2000 as Marcello (La bohème) at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Subsequent engagements took him to the Staatsoper Hamburg, Bayerische Staatsoper München, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, Opéra national de Paris, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and The Metropolitan Opera in New York. His repertoire includes roles such as Iago in Otello, Il Conte di Luna in Il trovatore, Renato in Un ballo in maschera and the title roles in Simon Boccanegra, Nabucco and Macbeth. At Dutch National Opera, he has previously sung the roles of Nabucco (2020) and Giorgo Germont (2021).
