Elena Vassilieva

Soprano

Soprano Elena Vassilieva studied at the conservatoire in Paris and developed under the tutelage of Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. She sang roles such as Elektra in Idomeneo, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Elisabeth in Tannhäuser. Vassilieva later dedicated her voice to the world of contemporary music; she has sung Berg, Webern and Schönberg, György Kurtág’s The Sayings of Péter Bornemisza, and several operas by Alexander Raskatov. In A Dog’s Heart, which had its world premiere at Dutch National Opera in 2010, she created the roles of Darya and Sharik. She also sang in Raskatov’s GerMANIA at Opéra de Lyon in 2018. She has sung with such artists as Zubin Mehta, the Borodin Quartet, Gidon Kremer, Dennis Russell Davies, the Hilliard Ensemble and others.
