Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Molinari began her musical training as a flutist, but started her vocal studies in 2009 and graduated from the Padua Conservatory. In 2015 she made her operatic debut as Zaida in Il turco in Italia and quickly emerged as one of the leading bel canto specialists of the younger generation. As a member of the Accademia Rossiniana, several engagements followed at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where she sang the role of Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia under maestro Alberto Zedda, among others. Recently, Molinari made her role- and house debut at Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in the title role of Händels Ariodante. At Dutch National Opera, she previously appeared as Angelina in Rossini's La Cenerentola. In season 21/22, she sang in Donizetti's Queens in Concert and in Anna Bolena as Smeton.
