Tenor

Alan Oke studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and with bass-baritone Hans Hotter in Munich. Following a successful career as a baritone, he made his debut as a tenor in 1992. Since then, his career has covered much of the tenor repertoire, including roles as Rodolfo in La bohème, Alfredo in La traviata and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. Oke has also established a firm reputation in twentieth-century and contemporary repertoire, including roles in The Tempest for the Metropolitan Opera, Anna Nicole for the Royal Opera House and Lulu for the Welsh National Opera. In the role of Fatty he returns to Dutch National Opera, where he previously performed Le Berger in Oedipe and Sellem in The Rake’s Progress.

Alan Oke sings the role of Fatty in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, which will be performed at Dutch National Opera from 6 September to 27 September 2023.
