Rosa Schützendorf

Costume design

Costume designer Rosa Schützendorf completed her Master’s degree in Costume Design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Her graduation work was awarded the JAT Prize for young emerging talent. She designs intuitively using a collage-like method, based on in-depth research into symbols and archetypes. She worked on productions such as Tribunal and Tavern Michelle by Ballet Dommage and the Brussels production house Bronks and for several Dutch theatre groups, including ORKATER. She also assisted at International Theater Amsterdam (ITA) on large-scale productions such as Age of Rage.

Her most recent production with her regular collaboration partners Mart van Berckel and Vera Selhorst was My First Tragedy: Iphigeneia at NITE. With an awareness of the ecological impact of her work, Schützendorf works with second-hand materials as much as possible. Her costume design for Ändere die Welt! is her first design for Dutch National Opera.
