Richard Jones

He has directed the theatre productions The Hairy Ape (Old Vic), The trial, Annie get your gun, The government inspector, Public enemy (Young Vic), Tales from the Vienna Woods (National Theatre) and A midsummer night’s dream (Royal Shakespeare Company). Richard Jones was nominated for a Tony Award for his production of La bête. For Un ballo maschera, he was voted designer of the year, along with Antony MacDonald, by the prestigious Opernwelt. The same magazine voted his production of Giulio Cesare ‘production of the year’. Richard Jones has received Oliver Awards for Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Les Troyens (ENO), and for Hänsel und Gretel and Lady Macbeth van Mtsensk (ROH Covent Garden). He also won the award voor ‘outstanding achievement in opera’ (2015).
