Composer

Peter Salem composes music for modern ballet as well as film and television. His debut ballet work, A Streetcar Named Desire, was a collaboration with Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Nancy Meckler. The cooperation continued with Doña Perón, Broken Wings/Frida, The Little Prince, and Coco Chanel.

Salem also composed music for the full-length ballets Camino’s Real (Atlanta Ballet) and The Crucible (Scottish Ballet). He collaborated with choreographer Helen Pickett on both ballets. Salem was nominated for the ‘Outstanding Creative Contribution’ National Dance Award in 2019.

Salem’s work for film and television is also internationally renowned, including his music for Call the Midwife (BBC), Cider With Rosie, Five Daughters, Great Expectations (BBC) and the documentaries Francesco’s Venice and The Power of Art (Simon Schama, BBC). Peter has also written music for The Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and Shared Experience Theatre, among others.
