Olivier Willemsen studied history, is a former press secretary and columnist at debate center De Balie, and made his writing debut in 2014 with the novel Morgen komt Liesbeth, for which he received the debutante grant from the Dutch Foundation for Literature. His second novel Roza was on the shortlist for Best Book for Young People in 2019. Among other things, he was 'writer in residence' in New Orleans and participated on behalf of the Netherlands in the European First Novel Festival in Budapest. In 2019, he was selected by the Witsen Fund for a five-year writer's residency at the Witsen House in Amsterdam. His novels are published by publishing house De Harmonie in Amsterdam.
