In 2003, Dutch actress, writer and presenter Nazmiye Oral was one of the co-founders of Zina, a theatre initiative focusing on local neighbourhood projects throughout the Netherlands. She performed in Veiled Monologues, De VoorstadSafari (Suburban Safari – also in New Mexico and Juárez) and in No Longer Without You, a play she wrote herself, directed by Adelheid Roosen. No Longer Without You was selected for the Holland Festival and the Crossing The Line Festival in New York, and it was adapted into a documentary by Mijke de Jong. Oral also played in a number of Dutch films and television shows, including A’dam E.V.A., Moordvrouw, Koppensnellers, Undercover and High Flyers. For her performance in made-for-TV film Freedom by Floor van der Meulen, she won a Netherlands Film Festival Award and was named ‘Best Actress’ at the Lucania Film Festival in Italy.
