Monique Wagemakers

She received a nomination as director of the year of Opernwelt magazine for her production Madama Butterfly for Staatsoper Stuttgart. The Vereniging Vrienden Nederlandse Reisopera rewarded her with the Vriendenprijs for her many productions. Wagemakers was a drama teacher at the Utrechtse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. Among her productions were Carmen, Peter Grimes, Fidelio, La traviata, Un ballo in maschera, Ariadne auf Naxos, Rigoletto (Teatro Real Madrid), Der fliegende Holländer, Een Ziel van Hout (Holland Festival) and Katibu di Shon. In 2016 she directed a new production of Cimmarosa's Il matrimonio segreto for Dutch National Opera in collaboration with the Nederlandse Reisopera and Opera Zuid.
