Michael Levine

Set and costume designer

Canadian set and costume designer Michael Levine graduated from The Central School of Art and Design London and has worked internationally for opera and theatre productions for more than 35 years. He has previously worked with directors such as Deborah Warner, Claus Guth, Andreas Homoki, Barrie Kosky, Ted Huffman, and Robert Carsen. At Dutch National Opera, he previously created the set design for Hänsel und Gretel (Lotte de Beer, 2015), Die Zauberflöte (Simon McBurney, 2012), and A Dog's Heart (Simon McBurney, 2010). In 2019, he received the Dora Award for Outstanding Scenic Design and Costume Design for Eugene Onegin (Canadian Opera Company), and in 2020, a production he collaborated on, Billy Budd (Royal Opera House), was awarded an Olivier Award.
