Matthew Golding

Although still in the early days of his career, the Canadian dancer Matthew Golding (Regina) has already received several awards and nominations. In October 2012, he was awarded the ‘Zwaan’ for Most Impressive Dance Achievement by the VSCD for his performance in Short Time Together by Paul Lightfoot and Sol León. Before that, he won the Youth America Grand Prix and was awarded the Alexandra Radius Prize in 2011. In the same year, he was nominated for a ‘Zwaan’ (for his performance in Alexei Ratmansky’s Don Quichot). Matthew trained at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington D.C. and The Royal Ballet School in London. After his training, he first danced with the American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company and then went on to dance with the main company for three years. In 2008 and 2009, he toured through Spain with the Corella Ballet, following which he joined the Dutch National Ballet as a soloist. He was promoted from soloist to principal in September 2010 after his spectacular performance in Don Quichot. This spring, Matthew has been performing as a guest artist with The Royal Ballet and English National Ballet. In March 2014 he joined The Royal Ballet, but remains as a guest principal with the Dutch National Ballet.
