Maria Lamont

Stage director

The Canadian opera director Maria Lamont started out as a performer but was soon gaining experience as an assistant director and by studying the direction of existing productions. Over the past few years, she has performed this role at various international opera houses, including Théâtre du Châtelet, Opéra national du Rhin, Opera Vlaanderen, La Monnaie in Brussels, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the prestigious La Scala in Milan. At Dutch National Opera, she was previously responsible for the stage direction of Gian Carlo Menotti’s De jongen die te snel groeide (2019) and she directed Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (2020) in the middle of the Covid pandemic.
