LEONARDO GARCÍA ALARCÓN

Leonardo García Alarcón was born in La Plata (Argentina) and studied harpsichord at the conservatoire in Geneva with Christiane Jaccottet. He performed with Ensemble Elyma, where he was assistant conductor to Gabriel Garrido. In 2005, he founded his own Baroque ensemble, Capella Mediterranea. As a conductor and harpsichordist, he has appeared in opera houses and concert halls all over the world, including Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, the Concertgebouw, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Théatre des Champs-Élysées, Wigmore Hall London, Teatro Massimo Palermo, Teatro de la Zarzuela Madrid, Opéra national de Paris and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. He has previously conducted the Cavalli operas Il Giasone (Grand Théâtre de Genève), Elena and Erismena (Aix-en-Provence). Alarcón has built up a considerable discography with Capella Mediterranea.
