Robert Kops

Tenor

Singing has been Robert Kops' greatest passion since he was very young. At the age of 17 he graduated cum laude at the Mavo for Ballet and Music in Rotterdam with piano as his main subject. Afterwards, he studied music education at the Conservatory of Rotterdam and took singing lessons with tenor Bert van 't Hoff.

Robert has been working for Dutch National Opera since 1991 and has held a permanent position as tenor with the Chorus since May 1997. As a soloist he has performed in, among others, Un ballo in maschera, Pagliacci and De nachtegaal en andere fabels.

In addition to his work at DNO, Robert is conductor of various choirs and pianist at concerts. In addition to operas and operettas, he also sings in oratorios. He sang in the Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini and Elias by Mendelssohn and considers his solo performance in Verdi's Requiem in the Concertgebouw to be a highlight.
