Ineke Berends

Ineke Berends studied at the Zwolle Conservatory with Cilly Dorhout and at the Amsterdam Conservatory. She won first prize in the Sunday Marriott Competition and the audience prize in the Cristina Deutekom Competition.

Ineke has been associated with the Chorus of Dutch National Opera since 1985. She developed her passion for opera thanks to the enthusiasm of her husband Rudi de Vries, tenor and freelancer with the Chorus of DNO. They met at the conservatory and after 36 years of marriage this couple is still singing together on stage. Ineke’s current coach is Brian Masuda.

She has sung solo roles operas such as La belle Hélène, Don Carlos, Der Rosenkavalier, Het sluwe vosje, Iphigénie en Tauride, Rosa, a Horse Drama, Die Frau ohne Schatten and Ercole amante.

Ineke Berends was with the Chorus of DNO until 2023.
