Frank Nieuwenkamp has been singing all his life and in various constellations, from children's choirs to close harmony groups. Nevertheless, he first completed his studies in architecture and his military service before starting his studies at the conservatory in Zwolle. In 1988 he graduated there, after which he wanted to sing more solo roles. He joined operetta companies and sang leading roles in Der Vogelhändler, Boccaccio, Eine Nacht in Venedig, Die lustige Witwe and Les brigands.
In 1990 Frank joined Dutch National Opera for a production of Parsifal. In 1993 he performed in the same production for the first time as a member of the permanent Chorus of DNO. By now he has sung in more than 1600 performances and more than 180 different operas, including solo parts in Symposion, The Nose, Król Roger, Peter Grimes, Boris Godunov and Alice in Wonderland.
