Frank Engel

Tenor

Since he started singing, Frank Engel has tried different genres. At first he wanted to become a pop singer, but as his voice developed, he became interested in musicals. He was accepted at theatre school De Nieuw Amsterdam, where, in addition to singing lessons, he also received dance and movement lessons. After this, he made his professional musical debut in The Phantom of the Opera in Antwerp. Here he was introduced to many classical singers, who showed him how beautiful a well-trained opera voice can sound; this awakened his passion for opera.

After three years, Frank left the musical genre behind and started a search for his classical voice at the Conservatory of Utrecht. At the end of 2009 he ended up at Dutch National Opera, where he still sings with great pleasure. Because of, among other things, the talent of the singers and the prize-winning productions that are performed, Frank is proud to be a part of the Chorus of DNO.
